Introduction
Behind every investment portfolio lies more than just numbers, charts, and asset allocation. At Melior Invest, we tailor each portfolio individually — with trust, strategy, and above all, responsibility playing a central role. The creation of a final investment plan is a delicate and sophisticated process that connects the client’s personality and personal goals with the real opportunities of the markets.
To prepare a meaningful and long-term functional solution for the client, it is necessary to go through a structured journey — from the first conversation, through detailed analysis, discussions over proposed strategies, to implementation and ongoing adjustments.
1. We Start With the Client
The foundation of every portfolio is understanding the person it is created for. We ask:
• What is their investment horizon and experience?
• What is their goal: preserving capital after selling a business, ensuring retirement income, funding children’s education abroad, or saving for the next generation?
• How do they perceive risk, and what does "peace of mind" mean to them?
These insights allow us to create an investment profile — from conservative to dynamic — and choose the appropriate strategy.
2. Portfolio Allocation Framework
Based on the client’s profile, we determine the target ratio between the following components:
• Equities – for long-term growth
• Bonds – for stability and volatility control
• Alternatives – to diversify beyond traditional markets
• Liquidity reserve – for flexibility and operational response
The goal is not to chase the highest returns, but to create a balanced solution that suits the client’s financial and psychological profile.
3. Selection of Specific Components
Each portfolio component is further broken down into detailed structure:
• Equities – we combine regions (USA, Europe, emerging markets), investment styles (value vs. growth), and sectors (e.g. technology, healthcare, defense).
• Bonds – we use a mix of government, corporate, high-yield, and convertible bonds. We also include absolute return funds.
• Alternatives – may include real estate funds, infrastructure, or specific investment approaches.
• Currency diversification – we consider exposure to EUR and USD. For some clients, we hedge part of the portfolio into CZK – especially if this makes sense in terms of stability and long-term planning.
• ESG/SRI and thematic preferences – we work on two levels:
- ESG/SRI investing: We include funds that meet environmental, social, and governance criteria — for clients who want their capital to contribute to positive change.
- Thematic focus: Some clients prefer specific sectors — such as healthcare, innovation, technology, or defense.
We then discuss the proposed plan with the client, clarify terminology and expectations, and make sure both sides fully understand each other. The complete portfolio is then prepared and implemented for the initial investment.
4. Implementation and Ongoing Management
For implementation, we use quality ETFs, actively managed strategies, and platforms with transparent cost structures.
Ongoing management starts already during portfolio construction, when we consider cost-efficiency (TER, service fees), tax aspects, and the long-term viability of each fund. This way, portfolio maintenance requires only occasional, minor adjustments.
After the portfolio is built, we monitor:
• Goal achievement
• Market developments and rebalancing opportunities
• Appropriate moments for portfolio updates or contributions
Conclusion
A strong portfolio is built gradually — by connecting data, experience, and an understanding of individual needs.
At Melior Invest, we guide clients through this journey. We provide peace of mind, structure, depth, and strategy — without unnecessary emotions.
